Final round of the season - Round 12 - 19/08/19

League 2000 Round 12

The final chapter of this years series saw 54 riders facing the officials. Weather was warm and bright.

The out and back skills course saw Lewis Dolan's 36 secs just getting the better of Connor Ali by 1 second and Daniel Thompson by 3 secs. Lewis was also fastest in the time trial with his 65 secs being the fastest time of this years series, Cillian Lewis came in 2nd with 76 secs Daniel Thompson 3rd with 77 secs. 11 PB's were established with Ben Green's 5 secs proving to be the biggest.

Lewis provided a clean sweep when he won the 5 lap RR coming from scratch, Oliver Gatenby winning the bunch sprint for 2nd place just ahead of Matthew White. 4 laps was a close fought race with Daniel Shipton winning a bunch sprint, Stacey Williams crossing the line for 2nd and Aiden Colmer 3rd. David Carter was a clear victor in the 3 lap race beating Ethan S-Willis into 2nd with Matthew Russell
coming in 3rd. 2 laps went to newcomer Lewis Bell who again was clear of 2nd place George Davies and 3rd placed Lucy Quinn. The small lap event saw a victory for Leo Lucas Barker crossing the line well in front of Clara McCullagh in 2nd and Joseph Davies 3rd.

This year we have had 859 rides which is an average of 71 riders per round, these were provided by 128 different riders.

The prize presentation is on Friday October 18th 7.15pm at Nunthorpe Academy

Round 11 - 12/08/19

League 2000 Round 11

The penultimate round of this years series saw the lowest turn out for around 3 years with only 53 riders. However the weather was in favour of the riders who produced some great racing.

New rider Malachy Wicks stormed to first place in the TT with a time of 69 secs. 2 faster than Owen Newbury's 71 secs with Sam White and Cillian Lewis equal 3rd with 78 secs. 11 riders produced pb's with India Maciver's improvement of 24 secs being the biggest.

The skills test was a sound victory for Cillian Lewis in 36 secs. with Daniel Thompson 47secs seeing him finish 2nd and Oliver Gatenby 51 secs 3rd.

The 5 lap RR was a victory for Oliver Gatenby who beat Daniel Thompson in a 2 up sprint, both these riders were at the front of the grid but worked extremely well together to avoid being caught, scratch man Malachy Wicks finishing 3rd. 4 laps provided a tight bunch finish with Alex Marr winning the sprint ahead of Finlay Smith in 2nd with Rosie Burgess 3rd.

Daniel Shipton was a clear victor in the 3 lap race with Olly Diro Ejara crossing the line 2nd ahead of Matthew Russell 3rd. 2 Laps another clear victory this time for George Davies with Claudia Davies out sprinting Luke Shipton for 2nd.
A win for the girls in the small lap event with Lucy Quinn in 1st place, Robby Diro Ejara 2nd and Joseph Davies 3rd.

League 2000 Round 10

First of all

Niamh was discharged from hospital last night. Her neck is fine and her elbow and knee have been dressed. Thank you to everyone who helped, including the donations of clothing to keep her warm, and the mat for mum to sit on!

Niamh's accident meant that there were 55 riders for round 10, the weather was perfect to help the racing.

Matthew White was the conqueror of the skills course his time of 41secs just enough to beat Owen Newbury 42 secs and Lewis Anderson 43 secs.

14 PB's in the TT the biggest being Lucy Quinn's 26 sec margin, Owen Newbury's time of 72 secs. proved to be the fastest ahead of George Walker 76 secs. and Sam White 78 secs.

5 lap RR was a closely fought affair with Matthew White just holding off Cillian Lewis to take the spoils with Isabel Mayes a very close 3rd.

Unfortunately for the 4 lap riders their race had to be stopped mid race for the arrival of the ambulance, however so that they weren't too disappointed the race was started again from scratch so they got to do 6 laps! Jake Davidson proved to be the strongest in taking the victory with Emma Carter and Sophie Quinn battling for 2nd and 3rd behind.

Ewan Whiting was victorious in the 3 lap event Rebecca Mayes crossing the line in 2nd place ahead of Olly Diro Ejara. 2 Laps went to George Davies who was a clear winner ahead of Naomi Green 2nd and Thomas Anderson 3rd. The girls took the honours in the small lap race Lucy Quinn a clear winner ahead of Robby Diro Ejara and Ben Green

League 2000

The start of school holidays and very strong winds led to there being only 57 riders for round 9 of the series.

The wind caused problems for the skills test with the cones and bottles continually being blown around. However Daniel Thompson completed a clear round course in 29 secs with Oliver Gatenby and Finlay Smith equal 2nd in 35 secs.

The wind was against the riders in the finishes of the time trial and road races. Sam White went fastest in the TT with a time of 78 secs ahead of George Walker 79 secs with Oliver Gatenby and Cillian Lewis tying for 3rd in 80 secs. There were only 5 pb's with Robby Diro Ejara 6 second improvement being the best.

Oliver Gatenby came out on top in the closest finish of the night in the 5 Lap RR, but big praise goes to Lewis Anderson (U10) finishing 2nd in the sprint Daniel Thompson crossing the line 3rd. 4 lap event went to Jake Davidson who crossed the line ahead of Daniel Shipton 2nd and Olly Diro Ejara 3rd in another relatively close finish.

The wind blew the other races apart, 3 laps Jacob Brown was the victor with (my skills course helper) Riley Norton finishing 2nd and Charlie Hare 3rd.
The girls took the other 2 races Jasmine Grant 1st in the 2 lap race with Layton Bergerud 2nd and Naomi Green 3rd. The small lap event newcomer Lucy Quinn took the honours, India Maciver battling for 2nd ahead of Sophia Brown.

PLEASE NOTE

There are a number of riders who have started to rest their elbows on the handlebars during the races (watching too much TdF), this will not be allowed any rider spotted will be disqualified.

Please can last years trophy winners return them over the next 2 rounds

Round 8 - 08/07/19

League 2000

Round 8 and two thirds of the way through the series, 80 riders attended on a calm warm evening, although not conducive to pb's in the time trial as only 11 went faster. The biggest improvement went to Leo Lucas Barker with a 22 sec. beating of his previous best. The fastest 3 riders being Owen Newbury 75 secs. Sam White 77 secs and Cillian Lewis 78 secs.

A difficult skills test saw only 1 clear round from Olly Diro Ejara however Daniel Thompson, 47 secs, coming out on top ahead of Stephen Bailes, 54 secs and equal 3rd George Walker and Olly Diro Ejara 55 secs.

The road races once again provided some exciting racing, a bunch sprint in the 5 lap RR saw George Walker bursting forth to take the victory ahead of Cillian Lewis 2nd and Matthew White 3rd. Another bunch sprint, this time a lot closer in the 4 lap race saw Jake Davidson taking the honours with Lewis Maynard crossing the line 2nd ahead of Stacey Williams in 3rd. 3 Laps was a much clearer affair with William Horlock being victorious in his '100 parkrun' jersey Fraser Morrison battling it out with Rebecca Mayes to take 2nd place.
A clear victory for Jasmine Grant in the 2 lap race with room to spare ahead of 2nd placed Charlie Hare, Thomas Anderson finishing 3rd.The small laps race was again a clear victory this time for India Maciver with Reuben Squire and Leo Lucas Barker finishing 2nd and 3rd.

League 2000 Rd 7 results

A damp and misty night greeted the 76 riders who signed on for the 7th round of this years series, our 22nd year.

The conditions only allowed 11 PB's in the time trial round the biggest improvement going to India Maciver who reduced her time by 24 secs. The fastest three riders were Euan Sanderson 70 secs, Owen Newbury 75 secs and George Walker 76 secs.

A relative simple skills test (no see-saw) saw only 3 clear rounds including Daniel Thompson whose 32 secs saw him to victory. Lewis Anderson coming in 2nd with 38 secs ahead of Olly Diro Ejara's 42 secs.

The road races once again provided some very close finishes. The 5 lap race a repeat of last weeks result with scratch man Euan Sanderson beating Oliver Gatenby into 2nd. George Walker finishing in 3rd place. Jake Davidson was a clear winner in the 4 lap event but a close sprint for 2nd place which saw Islay Wilson just edging out Daniel Shipton. 3 laps was another close affair with William Horlock winning the sprint ahead of David Carter in 2nd and Matthew Russell 3rd.

Luke Shipton was victorious in the 2 lap race edging out newcomer Megan Flood 2nd and Claudia Davies 3rd in a close fought battle. In the small lap race Leo Lucas Barker was a clear victor beating Carys Kelly into 2nd place with India Maciver finishing 3rd.

Remember in the overall it is the best 10 results from the rounds which count.

Round 6 - 17/06/19

League 2000 Round 6

A windy and showery start to round 6 of the League 2000 where 79 riders signed on. The weather calmed down during the first events which helped 32 riders to PB's including those who finished as the top 5; Euan Sanderson 70.0, Owen Newbury 72.0, Sam White 74.0
Isabel Mayes 77.0 and Josh Jewitt 77.0. However the biggest improvement on the night went to William Welch taking 40 secs of his previous best time.

A difficult skills test course saw only two clear rounds including that of the winner Daniel Thompson 31 secs, Oliver Gatenby 38 secs in 2nd place followed by Lewis Anderson 39 secs.

The road races saw some tight finishes including the 5 lap race which saw Euan Sanderson edging out Oliver Gatenby in a photo finish
Daniel Thompson finishing 3rd. 4 laps was a victory for the girls with Stacey Williams the victor ahead of Matthew Downs 2nd and Millie Burgess 3rd.

A close finish in the 3 lap race Matthew Russell taking the honours in a close sprint with Harrison Chambers 2nd and William Horlock 3rd. 2 laps went the way of Luke Shipton, Felix Levell and Esme Watson finishing close behind in 2nd and 3rd places. The biggest cheer of the night was for the small lap race which was a victory for Reuben Squire, Robby Diro Ejara fighting all the way to the line to finish 2nd with Louisa Palmer 3rd.


Half way through this years series sees 484 different rides an average of 81 per night. 112 different riders have taken part with 35 competing in every round. 68 personal bests have also been achieved in the time trial.

Round 5 - 10/06/19

League 2000 Round 5

81 riders for round 5 of the League 2000.

Sam White leading the way in the Time Trial round with a PB time of 74.6, but a dead heat for the 2nd place between Owen Newbury and Stephen Bailes, another PB, who both clocked a time of 76.5. 21 riders in total broke their records but Fearn Allport knocked 51 secs off her time for the biggest improvement of the week.

The skills course saw a win for Matthew Downs in 31 secs ahead of Kacey Eyeington 32 secs and Lewis Anderson 34 secs.

The road races were are closely fought affairs. The 5 lap race saw Oliver Gatenby edging out scratch man Owen Newbury to take the win with Isabel Mayes 3rd. 4 Laps went to Lewis Maynard with Daniel Shipton and Aiden Colmer 2nd and 3rd. 3 Laps was a victory for Matthew Russell ahead of Harrison Chambers in 2nd with Ewan Whiting 3rd.

A win for the girls in the 2 lap event with Florence Levell taking the honours, Luke Shipton finishing 2nd and Charlie Brooks 3rd. The small laps race was another victory for the girls Naomi Green taking 1st place this time. George Davies crossing the line 2nd and Ralph Poole 3rd.

ROUND 6 IS ON THIS MONDAY 17th JUNE

Round 4 - 20/05/19

League 2000 Round 4

83 riders for round 4 of this years series. A short shower of rain met the riders as they were warming up, but the weather improved for the remainder of the night. Some technical difficulties for the organisers on the night which led to the RRs starting a wee bit later than normal. 19 PB's in the time trial with Elise Hatfield's 47 second improvement being the biggest. The fastest 3 were Owen Newbury 75.7,
Stephen Bailes 77.2 (5 sec PB) and Oliver Gatenby 79.2. The skills saw Kacey Eyeington continuing at the top with a clear round taking 28 secs, closely followed by Daniel Thompson 29 secs and Daisy Freer 33 secs.

The 5 lap RR was a win for Oliver Gatenby with Daisy Freer crossing 2nd and Kacey Eyeington 3rd, the groups coming together quite early in the race. 4 Laps went to Matthew Downs who was clear of Jake Davidson in 2nd with Millie Burgess a close 3rd.

Matthew Russell was victorious in the 3 laps event Angus Walker crossing the finishing line 2nd and Ethan S-Willis 3rd. 2 laps was a victory for the girls with Matilda Robertson fishing 1st, Felix Levell and Thomas Anderson crossing 2nd and 3rd.
The small laps event saw a clear victory for Elise Hatfield ahead of newcomer Bella Pearson with Luke Shipton 3rd.

The next round will take place on JUNE 10th

Round 3 - 13/05/19

League 2000 Round 3

A beautiful warm summer's evening greeted the 86 riders for round 3 of this years series. The weather led to 53 PB's with Ben Green producing the biggest improvement of 38 Secs. The top 3 also were among the PB's with Owen Newbury 73.1 the fastest followed by
Sam White 76.9 and Cillian Lewis 77.1. Even a swarm of bees failed to stop the fast times.

The skills test went the way of Kacey Eyeington 23 secs with Oliver Gatenby 2nd 26 secs and Daniel Thompson 28 secs 3rd.
The RR's were again fiercely contested the 5 lap event seeing Oliver Gatenby beating the girls Kacey Eyeington crossing 2nd ahead of
Isabel Mayes in 3rd. Hugh Hall Craggs took the honours in the 4 lap race, Jake Davidson finishing 2nd with Daniel Shipton 3rd.


3 laps Ewan Whiting winning the sprint for the line Harvey Simpson edging out William Horlock for 2nd. 2 Laps was closely fought Charlie Brooks being victorious ahead of Matilda Robertson 2nd and Felix Levell 3rd. The small lap event went the way of Reuben Squire with a clear victory ahead of newcomer Elise Hatfield 2nd and Luke Shipton 3rd.
