Round 11 - 12/08/19
League 2000 Round 11

The penultimate round of this years series saw the lowest turn out for around 3 years with only 53 riders. However the weather was in favour of the riders who produced some great racing.

New rider Malachy Wicks stormed to first place in the TT with a time of 69 secs. 2 faster than Owen Newbury's 71 secs with Sam White and Cillian Lewis equal 3rd with 78 secs. 11 riders produced pb's with India Maciver's improvement of 24 secs being the biggest.

The skills test was a sound victory for Cillian Lewis in 36 secs. with Daniel Thompson 47secs seeing him finish 2nd and Oliver Gatenby 51 secs 3rd.

The 5 lap RR was a victory for Oliver Gatenby who beat Daniel Thompson in a 2 up sprint, both these riders were at the front of the grid but worked extremely well together to avoid being caught, scratch man Malachy Wicks finishing 3rd. 4 laps provided a tight bunch finish with Alex Marr winning the sprint ahead of Finlay Smith in 2nd with Rosie Burgess 3rd.

Daniel Shipton was a clear victor in the 3 lap race with Olly Diro Ejara crossing the line 2nd ahead of Matthew Russell 3rd. 2 Laps another clear victory this time for George Davies with Claudia Davies out sprinting Luke Shipton for 2nd.

Round 10 - 29/07/19
League 2000 Round 10

First of all

Niamh was discharged from hospital last night. Her neck is fine and her elbow and knee have been dressed. Thank you to everyone who helped, including the donations of clothing to keep her warm, and the mat for mum to sit on!

Niamh's accident meant that there were 55 riders for round 10, the weather was perfect to help the racing.

Matthew White was the conqueror of the skills course his time of 41secs just enough to beat Owen Newbury 42 secs and Lewis Anderson 43 secs.

14 PB's in the TT the biggest being Lucy Quinn's 26 sec margin, Owen Newbury's time of 72 secs. proved to be the fastest ahead of George Walker 76 secs. and Sam White 78 secs.

5 lap RR was a closely fought affair with Matthew White just holding off Cillian Lewis to take the spoils with Isabel Mayes a very close 3rd.

Unfortunately for the 4 lap riders their race had to be stopped mid race for the arrival of the ambulance, however so that they weren't too disappointed the race was started again from scratch so they got to do 6 laps! Jake Davidson proved to be the strongest in taking the victory with Emma Carter and Sophie Quinn battling for 2nd and 3rd behind.

Ewan Whiting was victorious in the 3 lap event Rebecca Mayes crossing the line in 2nd place ahead of Olly Diro Ejara. 2 Laps went to George Davies who was a clear winner ahead of Naomi Green 2nd and Thomas Anderson 3rd. The girls took the honours in the small lap race Lucy Quinn a clear winner ahead of Robby Diro Ejara and Ben Green

Round 9 - 22/07/19
League 2000

The start of school holidays and very strong winds led to there being only 57 riders for round 9 of the series.

The wind caused problems for the skills test with the cones and bottles continually being blown around. However Daniel Thompson completed a clear round course in 29 secs with Oliver Gatenby and Finlay Smith equal 2nd in 35 secs.

The wind was against the riders in the finishes of the time trial and road races. Sam White went fastest in the TT with a time of 78 secs ahead of George Walker 79 secs with Oliver Gatenby and Cillian Lewis tying for 3rd in 80 secs. There were only 5 pb's with Robby Diro Ejara 6 second improvement being the best.

Oliver Gatenby came out on top in the closest finish of the night in the 5 Lap RR, but big praise goes to Lewis Anderson (U10) finishing 2nd in the sprint Daniel Thompson crossing the line 3rd. 4 lap event went to Jake Davidson who crossed the line ahead of Daniel Shipton 2nd and Olly Diro Ejara 3rd in another relatively close finish.

The wind blew the other races apart, 3 laps Jacob Brown was the victor with (my skills course helper) Riley Norton finishing 2nd and Charlie Hare 3rd.
The girls took the other 2 races Jasmine Grant 1st in the 2 lap race with Layton Bergerud 2nd and Naomi Green 3rd. The small lap event newcomer Lucy Quinn took the honours, India Maciver battling for 2nd ahead of Sophia Brown.

PLEASE NOTE

There are a number of riders who have started to rest their elbows on the handlebars during the races (watching too much TdF), this will not be allowed any rider spotted will be disqualified.

Please can last years trophy winners return them over the next 2 rounds

Round 10 next Monday 29th see you then.

Round 8 - 08/07/19
League 2000

Round 8 and two thirds of the way through the series, 80 riders attended on a calm warm evening, although not conducive to pb's in the time trial as only 11 went faster. The biggest improvement went to Leo Lucas Barker with a 22 sec. beating of his previous best. The fastest 3 riders being Owen Newbury 75 secs. Sam White 77 secs and Cillian Lewis 78 secs.

A difficult skills test saw only 1 clear round from Olly Diro Ejara however Daniel Thompson, 47 secs, coming out on top ahead of Stephen Bailes, 54 secs and equal 3rd George Walker and Olly Diro Ejara 55 secs.

The road races once again provided some exciting racing, a bunch sprint in the 5 lap RR saw George Walker bursting forth to take the victory ahead of Cillian Lewis 2nd and Matthew White 3rd. Another bunch sprint, this time a lot closer in the 4 lap race saw Jake Davidson taking the honours with Lewis Maynard crossing the line 2nd ahead of Stacey Williams in 3rd. 3 Laps was a much clearer affair with William Horlock being victorious in his '100 parkrun' jersey Fraser Morrison battling it out with Rebecca Mayes to take 2nd place.
A clear victory for Jasmine Grant in the 2 lap race with room to spare ahead of 2nd placed Charlie Hare, Thomas Anderson finishing 3rd.The small laps race was again a clear victory this time for India Maciver with Reuben Squire and Leo Lucas Barker finishing 2nd and 3rd.
